Equity & Justice
A safe, hopeful, and healthy Baton Rouge doesn’t happen overnight nor does it happen as the result of one person’s work. Everyone plays a role. Dr. Andre Perry, Senior Fellow of the Metropolitan Policy Program, addresses issues from race, and structural inequality to education and how it inhibits a community from thriving. Dr. Perry’s work urges us all to be active in the change we want and need in our community. Dr. Perry is joining us as the keynote presenter at the inaugural Baton Rouge Legacy Awards celebration. Wednesday, February 16th, join us as we celebrate those who have made an invaluable impact on Baton Rouge over the years in ways that honor our past, enrich our present, and ignite our future. Mayor Broome will be recognizing honorees with awards in the Culture, Social Justice & Policy, Education, Pathfinders and Legacy categories. Walking in Legacy isn’t just about one person, but the work being done to develop generations to come. The Baton Rouge community is asked to stream the event live via www.mlkholidaybr.com as we uplift and celebrate the individuals that represent our city best.
